How We Send SMS Messages & How You Opt In

TurfAxis sends transactional SMS messages to clients of exterior service businesses that use the TurfAxis platform. These messages include service estimates, appointment confirmations, job completion notices, invoice delivery, payment receipts, and one-time passcodes for portal authentication.

How consent is obtained: SMS consent is collected exclusively through an explicit opt-in checkbox presented during the service provider's client portal signup flow at turfaxis.app/portal/[company-slug]. The checkbox reads:

"I agree to receive SMS notifications about my service estimates, appointments, and invoices from [Service Provider Name]. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time."

The checkbox is unchecked by default. No SMS messages are sent until the client explicitly checks this box and submits the form. A screenshot of this opt-in interface is shown below.

Message frequency: Transactional only — messages are sent when a service-related event occurs (estimate sent, job confirmed, invoice delivered, etc.)
To opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent.

Note: The "Request Service" button is active regardless of whether the SMS checkbox is checked. Unchecking the box does not prevent the client from requesting service — it only controls whether transactional SMS notifications are sent. No SMS messages are sent to clients who do not check this box.

2. Information We Collect

Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers)

Pages visited, time spent, and actions taken within the platform
UTM parameters and referral source when you arrive via a link or QR code
Location data (only when you explicitly use location-based features)

Address and property data from Google Maps and Google Places APIs
Payment processing data from Stripe
SMS delivery data from Twilio
Weather data from OpenWeatherMap for service scheduling purposes

To provide, operate, and improve the TurfAxis platform

To process payments and manage your account
To generate service estimates, schedule jobs, and deliver invoices
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements (including chemical application record-keeping)
To send service-related notifications including appointment reminders, job completion notices, and payment receipts
To analyze platform performance and improve user experience

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes. SMS consent is never shared with third parties.

4. SMS Communications — Detailed Policy

Types of SMS Messages We Send

All SMS messages sent through TurfAxis are transactional in nature. We send:

Service estimate delivery with approval links
Appointment confirmation and reminder messages
Job completion notifications
Invoice delivery with payment links
Payment receipt confirmations
Deposit collection requests
One-time passcodes (OTPs) for portal authentication (magic link login)
Weather-related service reschedule notifications

Opt-In Process

SMS messages are only sent to clients who have explicitly opted in by checking the consent checkbox on the TurfAxis prospect portal at turfaxis.app/portal/[company-slug]. The checkbox is unchecked by default. No messages are sent unless the client actively checks the box and submits the form. A screenshot of this opt-in interface is provided above in this policy.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on service activity. You will only receive messages when a service-related event occurs (an estimate is ready, a job is scheduled, an invoice is sent, etc.). There are no marketing or promotional SMS messages.

Opting Out

To stop receiving SMS messages, reply STOP to any message. You will receive a single confirmation message and then no further messages will be sent. You can re-enable SMS at any time by replying START or by updating your preferences in the client portal.

SMS Provider

SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, Inc. Twilio processes message delivery on our behalf and is subject to their own privacy and data handling policies.

5. Information Sharing

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: We use Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS), Google (mapping), and Supabase (database infrastructure). These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
Service Operators: If you are a client of an exterior service business using TurfAxis, that business (the "operator") can view your service information, addresses, and job history within their TurfAxis account.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or regulatory requirement.
Business Transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer to the new entity, subject to the same protections in this policy.

We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Security

TurfAxis uses industry-standard security practices including:

Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS) on all connections
Row-level security on all database records — each business's data is isolated
Stripe-managed payment processing — we never store card numbers or CVVs
Access controls and role-based permissions for all platform users

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP
Opt out of email communications using the unsubscribe link in any email
Lodge a complaint with your applicable data protection authority

8. Cookies

TurfAxis uses essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect platform functionality.

9. Children's Privacy

TurfAxis is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us at hello@turfaxis.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification. Your continued use of TurfAxis after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
